AGILITY  ~  TREIBBALL

AGILITY is a sport where dogs manoeuver through a timed obstacle course consisting of jumps, contacts, weave poles and tunnels with the guidance of their handler (so they do them in the right order!)

Similar to equestrian show jumping, it reflects a combination of drive, control, athletics and teamwork. It not only provides a lot of fun and exercise, but it also strengthens the bond between the dog and the handler.

DOGZ AGILITY CLASSES...

Our Agility program offers classes from absolute beginner up to the Masters level, depending on where you and your dog fit best. If you have a dog with basic obedience skills like sit, down, stay and come, you're ready to try Agility!

TREIBBALL (try-ball) originated in Germany in  2003, and is now being introduced in North  America!  It is a timed herding sport (but not just for herding breeds!) where the dog pushes an exercise ball with their nose or shoulder into a goal net.  At the highest levels the dog responds to the handlers cues from a distance to go out and herd back eight balls individually in a pre-determined order.

This is a sport where dog and handler must truly work together as a team.

DOGZ TREIBBALL CLASSES...

Our new Treibball program will start you with the basics and coach you up to the more advanced levels of the game. If you have a dog with basic obedience skills like sit, down, stay and come, you're ready to try Treibball!  As this is a low-impact game, it’s also ideal for dogs retired from other dog sports like agility, flyball or disc, that are still keen to work with you.  You most certainly CAN teach an old dog this new exciting sport!

Being a brand new sport in Canada, these are the first Treibball classes offered anywhere locally!  We've spent the last year teaching our dogs the sport, so we have lots of  tricks and techniques up our sleeves to make sure you have fun playing Treibball with your dog.  We also incorporate numerous games in class so you can practice your new skills.

Lessons run in 6-week sessions, and have a maximum of 4 dog/handler teams.  This ensures lots of individual attention and practice time.

Classes are scheduled based on demand.

Group lessons are $125 for a 6 week session.

GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION...

All our classes are open to any well-socialised dog, purebred or mixed breed, big or small, young or old. You most certainly CAN teach an old dog, new tricks!

We use the operant conditioning method of training - including use of the clicker - for all class levels. Using positive reinforcement (e.g. praise, food and toys) encourages your dog, helps them focus, and lets them know when they have done a good job. We don't use force - we'll teach you how to motivate your dog to work with you!

Our instructors have a wealth of knowledge and experience, both in teaching and competition, and we're ready to help you discover your dog's hidden talents, whether you're just looking for some fun or have that competitive spirit!

All our equipment is safe, regulation quality and fully adjustable so new dogs and puppies are introduced to obstacles at their simplest levels to help build confidence and make learning easier.
